Gateway CAN

Gateway uses the vehicle data bus (CAN) as the on-truck path between mounted equipment and the apparatus.

This page is the highest-priority developer shell. It lists the sections a specification will need. It does not publish identifiers, parameter groups, bit rates, or database files.

Specification in development

No CAN IDs, PGNs, baud rates, DBC files, or example frames are available on this site.

Foundation

How a unit is addressed on the bus, how it joins, and what “present” means.

Specification in development

Addressing, timing, and required baseline behavior are not published.

Identity

How a reader knows which product and which unit it is talking to.

Specification in development

Identity fields and encoding are not published.

Operating state

A short, operator-useful state (for example: running, idle, needs attention) — not a full data dump.

Specification in development

State names, transitions, and priority are not published.

Telemetry

Values that may later appear in a summary view. Cloud or command display is not required for the equipment to work.

Specification in development

Signal lists, units, and update rates are not published.

Diagnostics

Faults and service information that a technician can act on.

Specification in development

Fault codes and diagnostic sessions are not published.

Commands

Optional writes to equipment. Higher risk than telemetry.

Specification in development

Command names, payloads, and authorization are not published. Any future command path must fail safe and must not be required for primary function.
